THAT’S OUR THEME for this month as we welcome the Year of the Dragon. And we start off with an angel who keeps fascinating us with her grace, beauty, and talent: Angel Locsin. Since her breakthrough role as Alwina on the top-rating show Mulawin, followed by the hit series Darna, both on GMA-7, to another successful drama series Lobo, opposite the Papa ng Bayan Piolo Pascual, on ABS-CBN, her home network, Angel hasn’t stopped surprising us with what more she can do. In a move that was unprecedented (and even shocked those close to her), perhaps to reinvent herself, Angel dropped her manager, Becky Aguila, and replaced her with Manay Ethel Ramos. Today, Angel is unstoppable: endorsements left and right, hooking up with one of the hottest Azkals, a moviewith Marian Rivera in the offing, more projects on the Kapamilya Network. Every year, we always want to start on a clean (and lean) slate. Clean, like wearing a white button-down shirt. As we review the year that was, we always tell ourselves that the year to come will be different. We even jot our plans down on our calendar lest we forget. But have you realized how the calendar we know and use today came to be? It is not known when the first calendar was made and who made it. In the Bible, however, chronological records existed even before Noah’s time. And we know that during the Stone Age, writings, er, etchings on the walls of caves were not an unfamiliar sight.
