SMOKING IS A BEAUTY NO-NO By LULU RECLUSADO-NARIO
THERE are two words to describe Bianca King’s life at the moment. Hale, because she’s in the pink of health and is even encouraging everyone to be so. And hearty, for the simple reason that’s she’s having a grand time in all her endeavors. Her acting career is in fine fettle as she is starring in two major GMA-7 projects and portraying not the usual roles. She turns sweet and goodie in Zorro with Richard Gutierrez in the title role; and costars in SRO Cinema Serye, which presents Ganti ng Puso, with Geoff Eigennman and Maxene Magalona, among others. Academically, she’s doing well in school, and as a private citizen, she is so into her advocacy of having a smoke-less society. And as we all know, she is playing romantic music together with Hale frontman Champ Lui Pio. Smoke-free. “Smoking is not really glamorous. A lot of young women think kasi if they hold a cigarette mukha silang sosyal, mukha silang mayaman or it’s a fashion statement of some sort. But actually, it’s not if they think about what smoking can actually do. Your skin ages so much faster. It makes your teeth not just yellow but black and so with your gums. It makes your hair fall out. It’s definitely a beauty and fashion no-no!” Tobacco control freak. “And so I say: Smokers quit! And for those who aren’t, don’t even think about it. Support the picture-based health warning bill for this will surely make a difference in tobacco control.” Keeping it steady. “My heart is cruising. It’s steady and I’m not going through any emotional turmoil.” Behind the Camera. “My priority at the moment is school. I’m taking up filmmaking at the college of Saint Benilde. It is my dream to be able to produce not just Commercials but also quality shows for the movie industry.” Going Organic.“I keep fit by just eating healthy. I try to eat organic food as much as possible. I don’t eat fast food. I try to breathe clean and fresh air and get sunlight as often as possible.”
